Eating ice?

Question

So I got this booklet in the mail from my insurance provider, it's just a cute little "month by month" thing so I can read about my pregnancy. As I was looking at it, it said eating ice can be harmful to your pregnancy.
I don't understand how eating ice could hurt anything? It's water? 
Anyone ever heard of such a thing?

I've never heard that eating ice was bad for you...but I have heard that if you crave ice to eat it means you have a iron deficiency and could be anemic.

It is because most people do not think about how they pack thier freezers. Ice is a high cross contamintent freezer item because people do not think about where they put the meat. Other items as well like that bag of veggies...not the cleanest bag as many people have touched it before it for to your freezer. It's gross but issues with ice are rare. Depends on how you make it. Hospitals and restaurants for example have ice machines  that are specifically only for ice with specific scoops and regulations ect... 
I love me some ice and managing restaurants for years has been awesome knowledge for how I pack my freezer and make ice at home! 😁 not trying to gross anyone out... just an FYI 🙂

lol I eat ice alllll the time it's just water... the only thing m doctor has said is it can be a sign of anemia
