Fertility drugs??

Question

I wasn't able to see my regular doc when blood results came in. So this guy I've never worked with before wrote me a prescription for metformin and provera. I'm taking metformin every day. Provera 10 days every month for four months. Cycle after cycle after cycle. Has anyone heard of this combination before? My regular doc wanted to start me on Clomid, but the guy who saw me for my post bloodwork consultation didn't like prescribing it to anyone under 35.

I have PCOS and NO insulin issues. No weight problems. Not diabetic. I'm going to call my normal doctor and ask to see her and get her thoughts on the drug combo. But, have you heard of metformin and provera used together every cycle?

I don't have blood sugar problems either, but do have pcos. I'm on metformin as well. 
If that doc won't induce ovulation with clomid or by other means, you need a new doctor. Pcos is extremely common to need help to ovulate. Personally, clomid made me insane and had a lot of side effects. I much prefer Femara. (And because it's used in breast cancer treatment, it's mostly covered by insurance.)

All this doctor is doing is throwing metformin at you, hoping it brings your insulin down to stabilize your hormones and inducing a period each month. Have you been taking opks or charting? Are you ovulating?

I'm 26 and have done 6 cycles of clomid (3 IUI). Seems weird that he wouldn't prescribe it based on age....
