Family member told me to "break up and play the field?"
So I recently attended a baby shower for one of my cousins, and I was sitting next to one of my relatives that I haven't seen in years.
Don't get me wrong, I do love this relative and she's super nice. But during the shower she asked if I was dating anyone, and I said yes, my boyfriend of 3 years. Then immediately she goes: "Here's what you have to do then, you have to break up with him and date other guys. You need to sleep with other men before committing to one. Play the field!"
I'm not mad or annoyed at her for this whatsoever, but it just threw me off guard. I get what she was trying to say, but I don't plan on dropping my poor boyfriend like that hah
Has anyone had stories of family/friends who said similar things? Like telling them to have sex with more than one man, your opinions, etc.
