strange period stupid cervix!

I'm 38 years old and have been trying to conceive for six months. This month I started spotting at 10 DPO. I am currently 12 DPO and continuing to spot. I wear a pantiliner all day and there is nothing on it except a couple dots, but when I go to the bathroom a few drops of bright red blood drip into the toilet and when I wipe there is bright red blood. The blood is red but very watery. My cervix is high and soft, almost to the point where I can't find it. I took a test today but BFN! I have an appointment with my gynecologist, but it's not for a month. Not sure if I should test again. I'm starting to think I am premenopausal.
