Does being induced hurt more than having natural labor?

I've read that because they're "forced" contractions rather than your body doing it naturally, they tend to be more painful. I don't have any experience, but that's what I've read.

Research the way your body naturally releases oxytocin and reacts to contractions compares to what your body does when pitocin is given. Some people can handle induction, others have a harder time. Either way, yes. It is more difficult for your body to handle. There's plenty of research on it.

I was contracting naturally but my cervix wasn't moving so they decided to give me pitocin (drug used to induce labor) and the contractions were WAY WORSE I couldn't handle them anymore

Depending on why you were induced may determine what meds you go on and how long.

My case was preeclampsia at 35weeks. I was not in pain because they gave me an epidural early so avoid pain since it raised my blood pressure and I was at risk for a seizure or stroke. However I had pictocin and magnesium. Both cancel the other out so my induction took THREE days. I had hot flashes, cold sweats, upset stomach and no access to food or water during that time. When it came time to push I was physically and mentally tired. I dilated so fast my epidural didn't wear down in time. I spent 2 hours pushing and they had to tell me when I was having contractions because I had ZERO feeling. Eventually I needed vacuum assistance and she was finally out 2 pushes later.

My 2nd, I dilated from 5 to 10 in 1.5 hours. I spent 4.5 hours total in labor, 30 minutes pushing. I had an epidural just in case I developed preeclampsia again (I did, not until I was pushing). I was barely numb while pushing. It didn't even kick in until she was out (tech took to long because she was new). It hurt like hell to push her out with barely any anesthetic but I could probably do it again and might with my 3rd.

Honestly it depends. I read stories where they start the meds and it made their body finish labor naturally, or it was hell because it kicked in too heavy and fast. So depending on the circumstances, how your body, your baby, and the doctors handle the birth of your baby.
