How do you handle a situation where your constantly seeing an ex unexpectedly often ?

Our friends run in the same circle can't seem to escape him

When I spit up with my last ex, long, long ago..i moved in with parents temp. Until I found a good rental, because I lived with my ex before we spit. My parents live literally 5 minutes walking distance from my exes house. 
I lived with them for six months and the entire 6 months, I saw my ex at EVERY PLACE I WENT. Starbucks,  Wal-Mart,  publix, cvs, Walgreens.  Didn't matter.
And every single time to me he was invisible.
6 months later I moved on my own. Same city.  
8 years later,  he's now bouncing from 0lace to place,  dead end job, partying and doing drugs.
Me, I'm married, own and paid in full for a huge beautiful home (in a different city), own my own business and have an 8 month old daughter.
Ignoring paid off. Because had I tried to stay friends, or even be nice to him, my life would not be the paradise  that it is now.
Ignore,  ignore, ignore. Exes will mostly keep u from moving on to better things in life

This would make me sick to my stomach, I can't imagine running into my ex, much less multiple times! That's terrifying I'm so sorry omg. Even tho my exes live around me, I haven't run into any of them. If you do keep running into him tho, you shouldn't feel compelled to speak to him or even say hi. You don't need to. Just ignore him honestly. Try and go out with friends. Soon enough he'll fade into the background (hopefully).
