What is a chemical pregnancy and what causes them?

Yep, it's basically a very early miscarriage that happens before 6 weeks. It's usually because the embryo doesn't implant properly or wasn't developing normally....a lot of times it's due to chromosomal problems. There is nothing you could have done to prevent it unfortunately. They are fairly common, and don't mean you won't be able to conceive. I had one several months back too and now I'm pregnant with twins. ;) sorry for your loss and good luck in the future.

It's a pregnancy that ends before anything can be seen on an ultrasound, usually before 6 weeks. Usually you'll get a positive pregnancy test, which is because the hcg (chemical) produces but the egg fails to implant in the uterus. Your period will come on either on time or a few days late. I've had 2 of them, very sad.
