Is it okay to elope?

Having a discussion with a friend about whether or not it's respectful to your family to elope, even when the family doesn't get along or when someone doesn't have a family.

My husband and I eloped to the Bahamas in January and it was the best decision we ever made.. saved tons of money, no drama, no stress. My mom had a hard time but as soon as she saw our pictures she was fine and understand. Everyone suprisingly supported us! Good luck

I loved my wedding, I really did, but I wish we would have eloped and used the money for a wonderful trip for us.

I eloped! Easier on the families.....well, not so much his because he didn't tell them until after! Lol! It was not our first wedding, we had been married to other people before and did the big wedding and party.....both marriages didn't last. We just went to the magistrate on Halloween! However, I did dress up and have nice photos taken for the family. Plus, saved the wedding money and had a great Disney honeymoon!

At my mom's wedding, since she had more of her family show up than her husband's family, they made a big sign that said "sit where you, we're all family!" Instead of having the grooms family on one side and the brides on the other. And everyone actually behaved lol I thought I was a cute idea

My boyfriends step brother and fiancé are eloping! They can't afford an entire wedding, plus, they both have a child from a previous relationship, and are pregnant with their own! They would like to be married before baby gets here in August! (They moved in together after 3 weeks of dating, only knowing each other for about a month. They haven't hit their year anniversary yet either.) I love them dearly, but they make me face palm! lol. I couldn't see them doing it any other way though! I think it's a complete personal preference!

Me and my fiancé are eloping in Vegas. He asked me to marry him on Valentine's Day and we decided to get married on our 2 year anniversary. Since neither of us want to spend much on a wedding we decided to do something for ourselves and elope and then have our honeymoon all at the same time. My future hubby and I wont have our families at the wedding ceremony. . . But that's mostly for religious purposes. So I guess that's basically eloping. We may have a ring ceremony with a few close people invited, but that's it.

As long as you are both on board with it then who cares? I say it's less stress lol
