Family may become a huge pain.
I'm about 10 weeks pregnant and have told all of my close family about the baby. My doctor requested that anyone who is holding the baby get their dtap shot. My husband and I have to get it so we decided all family that wants to hold our new one must get the shot or make sure it's updated. I've told my whole family and my sister is the only one whose had it. My mother said she got it back in 2002 and she's fine...the shots last 10 years so she is not up to date. I don't think she thinks this is a problem and I don't think she will get the shot or make sure my 2 siblings and father get it. I don't know how to make it strictly clear they are to get it or no touching. I've already told them seriously they need it.
My other issue is I've had depression issues in the past so ppd is a worry for me. I've talked to my husband and sister who live close and they understand and will help me out. My mother wants to help and she wants to come stay a week with me. I'm all for some help but I'm worried she will turn bossy. She wants to take my child out of the house at 1-3 weeks old so I can sleep. For one it will be winter, two she is an awful driver, and three she wants to stay on the opposite side of town and take the baby to the hotel. My husband said absolutely not. And I agree. She also told my husband to take his paternal leave after she has been with me. He also said no I'm taking my leave when my child is born. I just think she's going to be pushy. She thinks everyone needs her help and I may need it but I don't want to be pushed around or have a shadow over me making me nervous.
I've also decided to breast feed so I'm hoping I can just pretend she can't leave because my child needs to eat food from me. I'm also hoping I'm so out of it when she's here that my husband can tell her no.
Anyone else have a pushy mom? Or any ways I can politely tell her off?
