Can your dog tell when something is going on?

My fur baby rex has been really cuddly lately and wanting a lot of attention. We have had him since he was 12 weeks old. He is now 6 years old. He is only super cuddly like this when I'm on my period. But I already had my period this month. I've been off it for a week or two now. Does anyone know what this could be??

They get everything that's going on with us. My dog always watches me and wants to be close when I'm sick. They also get when the human's mood changes (nervous, impatient, depressed).

I think all dogs have some sort of sense of when things are happening (pregnancy, emotions, physical health, etc.) but I think my current dog is clueless lol
