dogs and power outages

It's summer in North Carolina, currently 88 degrees and today in my neighborhood there's a power outage, so my house's air conditioner was affected by that.  I'm worried about my dog. He's panting a lot. I've gotten him to drink some water, he's in a darker, cooler area of the house, and I've been pouring cool water on his back. Is there anything else I can do to help him and prevent heat stroke?
