So I live in Australia, I was filling out my son's birth registration and asked the dad (ex boyfriend) to come sign it. He refused to sign it unless the baby has his last name which I will never agree to. The dad is very arrogant and has a sense of entitlement disbite him choosing to leave the state while I was getting induced early and didn't bother to message me asking if his son was okay or even alive. What I want to know is if anyone has had to deal with this before, child support said I have to do a stat dec saying he's the dad because he hasn't signed his birth registration. From my understanding he has no parental responsibilities/rights as he is not the legal father until he signs the birth registration or writes a stat dec to births deaths and marriages.
