baby food

Has anyone else given their four month old baby food? Or started to have them try baby food? My daughter's pediatrician said "we suggest waiting till 6 months to give her spolids." Everywhere I look says you can start having them try baby food at 4 months but I'm a little nervous about it. Not a first time mom, but I remember having to wait till 6 months to start trying to give her baby food.
