Can Vegans eat Honey? 🍯

This has been bothering me for years. Do vegans count bees/insects as animals for dietary descrimination purposes? Can one be a vegan and eat honey or is it not permitted?

My friend has been vegan for nearly 10 years but she chooses to still eat honey because it's a product that animals make from plant materials, rather than a product that is made from their bodies.
Honey is made as if bees are in a factory putting materials together to make their product, whereas milk is made from protein and fat actually made by a cow's body (or goat).

If you eat honey, you follow a plant-based diet but are not vegan. Honey consumption goes against veganism.

There's different thoughts on it, but some do since it's not actually an animal product, it's still made from plants. Plus for the people that are vegan because they care about animals, eating ethically sourced honey is meant to be great for the environment I hear? I'm no bee expert but supposedly beekeepers do a lot for the environment by housing bees and supporting them sounds like a good ideaz

As far as I know, honey is not considered vegan because it is the product of insects, like milk is a product of cows and goats. Vegan diets, and someone please correct me if I'm wrong, are entirely plant and mineral based, favoring sweeteners such as stevia or syrups.

I think this is kind of one where vegans disagree. I am a vegan and don't consume honey. Others may. I don't like honey anyway so I don't really think about it.
