was shaving a terrible decision??

So I'm going to the beach tomorrow, and in an effort to reduce the amount of hair sticking out my bathing suit bottoms I decided a few days ago to shave a little down there. I was gentle, only shaved the edges, shaved in the direction of the hair growth (not against it), used conditioner (I don't buy shaving cream since I don't shave my legs, and I've heard that conditioner is better to use than soap, and it's what I use to shave my pits), etc etc--in short, I thought I was doing everything right. But it won't stop itching!!
Granted, it's not unbearable, it's not so bad that I'm scratching in public or anything. But it is uncomfortable. Is there anything else I should have done to reduce this discomfort? Anything I still can do? Is it just something I have to deal with if I want to shave, that nobody talks about?
This is the first time I've done something like this, so any advice at all would be greatly appreciated!!💕✨
