When to let any start watching tv?

The recommendation of the public health agency in my area is no screen time in the first year and bery sparingly but preferably none in year 2 as well

Reading some of the comments here blow my mind 5 years of no screen time omg I have a 6 year old and a 2 year old I am very strict on what they watch and how long but I'm sorry I can't say I have the will power or the energy every day for 3 to 5 years of no TV we all have our shows we like and video games I work and a mom full time so If I'm coming home from work and need to shower clean cook dinner and that keeps them quite for me to do that I'm all for it we sit at the table every day for every meal on school nights no game and probably only 30 mins to an hour of TV weekends they go outside to play but Sunday is a whatever day up until dinner time

I just make sure they get plenty of stimulation throughout the day(toys, new foods, playing outside). I don't worry about if the tv get watched.

I put on baby tv for my son I started that around 3 months. He use to watch it a lot when he was little but he doesn't really watch it much now. They play a lot of songs and sing on it there so he only pays attention when there's music he dances or sings other than that he won't watch it.

Probably won't have tv until 5 and even then it'll be once a week family movie night... children need to engage in more creative, free play and going outside...

I started trying to show cartoons to my daughter after she turned 1. She's 18 month now and will only be interested in tv for 5 minutes and that's if I was sitting and watching it with her... she'd rather play and bug mommy 😄

We started with 5 minute segments now and then of Daniel Tiger/Curious George so he'd sit still for fingernail clipping. That was maybe around 6 months.

He's two now and we usually watch one episode of Bob the Builder to Daniel Tiger as the "bedtime is coming" signal. The rest of he time if he wants to watch, I put on "moving art" onNetflix - it's nature pictures set to music. He loses interest pretty fast.

There's a study out that says as little as 30 minutes of screen time a day can lead to delayed speech in babies.  My goal is no tv for the first year, if not two.
