Carpal Tunnel Syndrome or excessive hand swelling

Is anyone else experiencing carpal tunnel syndrome or excessive numbness at night? I've read it's common, but it wakes me up because my hands are so tingly and dead. My strength in my hands diminishes in my sleep also. If I walk around and do things after waking up it gets much better through out the day. The funny thing is my hands and feet are a tad swollen but they aren't visibly swollen.
