I always hear about certain groups thinking it's wrong but have never encountered it myself

By taking birth control you are messing with your natural body chemistry and pumping it with synthetic hormones. There are a lot of side effects/risks...that being said, there are side effects and risks with everything and you have to outweigh the pros and cons for your individual situation. I personally don't like being on birth control but in the past it has been the only thing that cleared my acne. It was so bad that I didn't want to leave my house and it really took it's toll on my self esteem and mental health...so for me it was worth it to give me my confidence back.

It messes with your body hormones. I have a friend who was on birth control and when she got off she didn't get her period for 5 months, then she got it and when she finally got her period it lasted for 3 months and her period still has not stopped☹️😧

I have a friend who will legitimately get grounded from everything and threatened with getting kicked out for having condoms because her parents are so strictly catholic. It happened to her brother. There's no way she could ever ask for birth control.

My mom disowned me when she found out I was on it, at 20 years old an adult. She's very religious that was her argument is it's wrong because it goes against god.

My sister had a growth of breast tissue removed from her armpit due to a sensitivity to the estrogen in her birth control pills. Does that sound good to you? There are no biological free lunches! There will be some consequences for manipulating your body chemistry.

I just don't want that shit in my body! It's doing exactly what it is meant to do and I'm not ducking with it. My periods (before my pregnancy) were 4-5 days and truly bearable. I would use tampons, and take a midol the day I was expecting my period so it was as if it came and went without me even noticing. 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

I guess you could say I'm religious, but I'm not necessarily for it or against it. I don't use it but I won't be putting girls down for using birth control, I try to make sure I don't put anyone down for how they choose to live, to each their own.

The birth control pill is personally not for me. I took a couple different kinds before I called it quits on the pill. 
I was taking it so I could have pregnancy free sex (with a long-term partner in a monogamous relationship) and regulate + control heavy periods. It did take care of the heaviness and regularity but with it came depression and a complete lack of interest in sex, ever. Extreme fatigue. Just not worth it. I'd rather have debilitating cramps than deal with the soul sucking feeling of depression ever again.

But that's just me. Some people have 0 problems with their birth control pill and that's awesome.

My friend was so uncomfortable when she found out I got the IUD. She mentioned it her mom who freaked out, thank god she didn't say it was me because I for sure wouldn't be allowed over any more. They're a super religious family.
