Was it a period?

We have only been TTC for really a month but I have been off of birth control for two. The first month off BC, AF was normal came on time and seemed regular and only lasted the normal 5 days. My most recent AF was a week and a half late and last 8 days, with discharge at the end (not normal for me)! I took a test on one of my late days and it was negative. AF was always normal for me before I got on BC. Can anyone give me advice on what is going on, if anything?
