I've been in this situation and it depends. If your the one that keeps trying and you don't see him trying or making any effort its best to let go, because as much as you love that person you do get tired!

My husband and I dated for 5 years and we've been married for 5 months. While dating, we lived an hour apart and saw each other a few times a month. My biological mom interfered a lot unfortunately. She called the cops on him and said he kidnapped me. She told him and my family that I was pregnant by my ex (who was over in Afghanistan)....never was pregnant and never cheated. He had to deal with my crazy depression when my dad went to Afghanistan for 14 months (I was a bitch and super depressed during that time since my dad has been the only parent in my life since I was 7. My bio mom has never been there for me). We dealt with his dad being an ass and having ptsd after he was shot in the arm 20+ years ago. We went through a lot and we fought all the time. We pushed through and bought our house 3 years ago and we are ttc baby #1.  I'm glad we worked through the issues. We have never been closer or happier. Try and work stuff out. I'm so glad we did. Never imagined that at 23 I'd be married, have 2 dogs, a huge gorgeous house, and trying to get pregnant. Life has a funny way of working out :)
