I got my Paragard 8 weeks after I gave birth. Three months later I had placement checked and everything was good to go. I checked my strings after each period and all was well in my world till 5 months after I had it placed. I had a weird dream about being pregnant with a boy and my period was late which was not normal cuz I usually had incredibly heavy periods with the Paragard. So for the hell of it I bout a cheap test. As soon as the urine hit it it came back positive I just stood there like this is not happening because at the time my baby was 6.5 months. This was not part of the plan. 5 ultrasounds and 2 months later they decided that the iud was not in my uterus and the baby was safe and that I was due in Jan 2018. They said it must have fell out. I don't know if I agree cuz I look when in the toilet after each use plus I felt the string when they were too long so I don't know where it went but they said once I have the baby they will give me a X-ray just to be sure but because I didn't have any pain they were sure everything was fine. I told them they can go ahead and tie my tubes after this one. They said 0.05% chance to get pregnant with a IUD was almost the same as getting pregnant with your tubes tied!
