birth control spotting to period?

I switched birth control brands last Sunday (6/11/17) and now I'm on my 2nd week and yesterday I started spotting brown discharge but today when I woke up it was red similar to my period. I had sex without a condom on Sunday and my doctor said for the first week ish to stay protected with a condom... should I be worried?
