did anyone go to a fertility specialist due to not ovulating and having irregular periods? what did they do to help you get pregnant?

Just wondering because my periods have been irregular and I'm pretty sure I'm not ovulating. We've been ttc for 15 months. I have my first appointment with a specialist next week which my obgyn referred me to. And I'm just wondering what the steps were that they did next for you?  I've had all of my day 3 labs taken and thyroid and blood sugar and all that checked by my obgyn and it was normal. And she faxed my records to this specialist

Yep. Still seeing her.

First appointment she did a full physical including Pap smear and breast check.

I already knew I had PCOS so irregular periods. We started tracking my cycle through regular blood tests. First cycle I ovulated soon after appointment. But next cycle after three weeks no sign for estrogen or LH increase so we started clomid. This is my second round of clomid and third of cycle tracking.

Most likely specialist will ask you a lot of questions like did family have any known fertility issues or cancer history. Have you ever been pregnant etc. and send for more test to rule out things like PCOS.

Good luck. I found the whole thing very intense and forgot half of what she said. Luckily she recorded the whole thing and receptionist sent a typed summary!

Yes. They put me on progesterone pills right away then tried femara and then they monitored my ovulation with ultrasound on a certain day. When that didn't work they doubled the dose. I still didn't get prego, so they did an IUI. That ended up not working for me so, I saw another dr and they did surgery and removed endo and drilled holes in my ovaries to ovulate. Then after surgery they put me on vitamins, progesterone and femara. After this didn't work my dr wasn't willing to do anymore than that.

Well... two years later I ended up seeing a endometriosis dr and am currently recovering from surgery where they removed stage 3 endo. I see him tomorrow for my post op and he will then put me on meds to try to get prego.
