pink and blue alternative??

Any alternatives to the same old pink and blue color announcements? I'm a teacher and always told kids that colors don't need to have genders. I'm a woman and I don't wear or even really like pink. Now I feel like a hypocrite if I'm cheering over some color to pop out of a box or balloon. Still unsure. My husband is old fashioned and refuses to do anything else.

For my family gender reveal, my husband and I used our sorority and fraternity symbols to reveal the gender to our families. I'm a teacher also and I did a gender reveal in my classroom as part of their End of Year celebration. I teach first grade so I knew they wouldn't understand the sorority and fraternity symbols. I used the terms "TuTu" and "Bowtie" to reveal the gender for my students. If the student thought i was having a girl, they wore a tutu for the day. If they thought I was having a boy, they wore a bowtie for the day. Of course all of my girls jumped for joy when I revealed Team TuTu's won lol.

We're not using colors either. I wanted to be different so we doing nuts or no nuts. I haven't decided it I want everyone to eat a Hershey kiss at the same time or have balloons that say nuts or no nuts.

Gender reveals are tricky, in my opinion, because so many ways of doing it automatically make the distinction between 'boy' things and 'girl' things. Blue vs Pink. Trucks vs Bows. Lashes or 'Stashes. Wheels or Heels. When we announced we were having our second, we did it with a photo of our daughter wearing a t-shirt that said 'sistersaurus' with a pic of a t-Rex and just said 'Baby Girl 2 Arriving Thanksgiving'. I'm not comfortable insinuating that my daughter isn't a girl if she prefers blue or trucks or books or wheels.

I just don't care much for pastel/light blues or green. I don't care about clothes it's mainly for decor and nursery. So for our boy we are using dark green/emerald.

Why do you have to have a reveal or announcement with colors? We posted a picture of the US potty shot and said we were to proud parents to be of a healthy little boy. You could also get the letter balloons that spell girl, or have a sign saying girl drop out of a box.   I hate pink too!
