Fourm/group tabs

Is there a way to make the 'new' tab my default instead of the 'hot' tab? I dont want to see posts from 2014-ealry 2016 when I open the hot tab because those are so old they don't feel relevant. They are subjects that are way past their moment of posting and that are probably not relevant to the poster's situation anymore.
