Yes, of course, but only if it's done well, and with input from the people of the cultures their celebrating.  Sometimes well meaning people kinda go off the rails with it.

Definitely, everyone is tip toeing around trying to treat everyone like we're all the same, we're not learning about our differences which just leads to more misunderstandings and in some cases fear. Equality and diversity should go hand in hand not one or the other.

Taught? Absolutely. Celebrating? That may be going a bit far. All cultures have many bad traditions and cultures, celebrating cultural diversity can risk airbrushing these issues out. It would really depend on the context? International food day? Great. All cultures are good and equal simply by virtue of being a culture? No.

Yes because as a grown woman i still meet people who are unaware that they speak portuguese in Brazil among other seemingly obvious things

i live in a small town and i am a teacher, i have taught for going on my 5th year, and being in a small town as i mentioned before, there is only one child in all 5 years that i have taught that wasn't white. she wasn't treated differently and as far as i know, nobody thought anything of it and said nothing to her. children don't pay attention to skin color or race or gender, they just play. it's the parents that teach them that. i know i taught her just like i taught all my other students, helped her when she needed help, just like a teacher should, but i do think that there should be diversity taught, just because some parents are still racist, unfortunately.

Yes, as long as you have someone come in that can help ensure appropriate cultural and racial diversity is taught. Although, the best teaching is to actually go to different places and experience.

Just not as educated as I should be on a lot of things.  Yes, this is my issue and I alone am responsible for my education; but honestly I would have a better framework if it was taught in schools.
