Postpartum Belt?

Question

Sooooo whats the point/use of a postpartum wrap/belt? I didn't get one after my first baby, but this time around I'm really considering it. 
Just curious what its for. 
Also anyone have any pics of the kind they got? There's so many different styles.

My dr told me not to wear one when going for walks and that it restricts your muscles from healing and developing. She said if I want to wear it when hanging around the house it can help with tummy support but healing will occur faster the more muscles I use.

I had a csection at 39 weeks, oh and I also found it to interfere with breastfeeding. It was just uncomfortable.

I purchased the belly bandit and love it. I breastfeed and pump and have had no issues wearing this and doing both. It offers back support and has helped restore my ab muscles and I already see my stomach reducing in size. My daughters pediatrician told me I look wonderful for 3 weeks post partum. Totally agree with Allison. The wraps prevent healthy belly-breathing and they're generally stiff and tight so when you sit to breastfeed, you have to lift the baby way up to reach your boobs... so not comfortable, or practical. A lot of cultures use some form of wrap after birth but my guess is they use natural, softer materials. Maybe buy one and give it a try if you're super curious. Mine just sat in the corner of the bedroom for 5 months and then got pitched and my abs look the same as before pregnancy.
