Swaddle to sleep?

Question

I normally swaddle LO to sleep at night but during the day I'm letting her sleep without being swaddled. I'm considering letting her sleep the night without swaddling too. Is that not safe? Does anyone else not swaddle their babies at night to bed? My LO is 3 weeks old.

We never swaddled because baby hated having his arms down and feet covered

My daughter is 3 weeks old today too and she doesn't like being swaddled anymore already. She hates when she can move her arms and hands lol

I've never read that swaddling is a part of safe sleep recommendations.

I never understood swaddling to be about safety, just about comfort for the baby. I never swaddles for neps, I did at night because she tended to sleep longer, now that she's older (2months) she prefers not to be swaddled and now that it's warmer,I don't swaddle her.

It's safe not to swaddle. Some mums don't swaddle their babies ever. You can give it a try, but I found that at that age the startle reflex is so strong the babies wake themselves up. I still swaddle my 3 month old at night otherwise she whacks herself in the face with her hands and wakes herself up a dozen times a night lol.

Swaddling is not done for safety. And if you baby can sleep without being swaddled it's actutbetter because it gives her the chance to develop some self soothing skills

My LO, 5 weeks, doesn't like being swaddled much anymore. She likes her legs being free and her arms! I was worried she wouldn't sleep as well, but she's sleeping just as good!
