Is a saline sonogram painful?

I'm going for a saline sonogram on Friday. I did an HSG a few months ago and was told there'd be "mild cramping".  But for me, it was awful pain. Probably some of the worst pain I've ever been in.  For those of you who felt the HSG was painful, how was the saline sonogram? I'm scared!

I did both the HSG and Saline sono on the same day. I took a couple of Tylenol before the procedure and mine was just cramping. I thought the HSG was worse.

My HSG was very painful and I was really scared about the saline sonogram, but it wasn't bad at all!! One little cramp, but nothing like HSG. My doc put numbing cream on my cervix and I think that really helped, ask about that. Good luck.

My first one wasn't, my second one was horrible. Definitely take some Tylenol before, and bring a pad as you will have some spotting and cramping.

For me they were both painful, but the HSG was excruciating, and SHG was mostly uncomfortable.

Hey there. The HSG was awful for me, like really bad pain. I have had a saline sonogram twice and didn't feel pain either time. And that's coming from a serious pain wimp! Good luck!
