pelvic inflammatory disease

So I went to the hospital today over insane abdominal pain. After about 2 1/2 hours I finally got some pain meds and a pelvic exam. Do any of you ladies have PID? What caused yours and how do you deal with it? He told me it's caused by an infection in my uterus.

***Edit, it wasn't caused by an std.
