newborn sleep at night?? help!!

Day 3 at home finally! But now baby won't sleep anywhere but on our chest. Is this normal? Why won't he fall asleep in his bassinet?? How long does this last and what cannwe do? We obv can't sleep like this forever or let him cry. Tips?

he is only 3 days old. he is used to being warm and snuggly in your belly. it won't last  forever if you don't want it to but right now he is In need of serious snuggles, his whole world literally just turned inside out.

Just keep trying to get him down in the bassinet but don't get too frustrated if he wants to be held, he's been used to sleeping with the sound of your heartbeat and your warmth for the last 9 months ❤️
It can take some time to get adjusted and everything 👶🏻😘

Do you swaddle?  Have you tried putting him down while hes sleeping?  First 6 weeks are survival mode, so baby might just need you to be close!

Swaddling saved me, honestly. We also roll up blankets so that our daughter is tight in her swing crib. She loves it x

This is what they do. It's a phase. He won't do this forever. My dh and I slept in shifts so one of us could hold dd while the other slept.

My two sons both woke up every two hours around the clock for months. My first would hardly ever sleep at all at night. Getting them to fall asleep on you first and laying them down after helps but... my youngest is 14 months old and did the same thing as a newborn. Most newborns DONT sleep a lot but in hour or two increments. That's normal. They get hungry often also. Parenthood is hard!!!!

Like others have said, he's new and used to being with you. My son was like that and still, at 16 weeks, really only sleeps if he's next to me.
