How breastfeeds change over time?

Question

Can someone give me an idea of how many feeds a day changes over time?

For example, it's usual to feed 8-12 times a day for a newborn..when does this Change(do feeds get longer and less frequent?)

What's it like up to 6 months of age? (Up to 1 month/2 months/3 months/4 months/5 months/6 months?)

Mine are every 2 hours or sooner as a newborn. At about 4 months she moved to 2.5 to 3 hours and now at 7 months she's every 3-4 hours with lots of nursing during the night... she's also only eating one BLW meal a day

My son is almost 1 and sulk breastfeed. He also still sleeps with me and feeds at night sometimes. Every baby and situation will be different but for me it was kinda like this: 
Newborn-3 months: feed in demand. I was feeding for 30-45 mins each side every 1.5 hours. So, literally around the clock. During this time, they also go through "cluster feeding" where they will stay on the boob for hours at a time. For me, it was around 6pm-10pm most every night. It does get absolutely exhausting, but if you have the support and you're prepared (I had my chair and blanket and diapers/wipes, plus snacks and my phone charger nearby) you'll get used to it. 
3-5 months: still feeding on demand, but for less time (20-30 mins each side) every 2.5 hours. Still feeding at night, but the cluster feeding seemed to stop. 
6-9 months: still feeding on demand, but we introduced solids (bananas, avocados, applesauce, butternut squash, etc), so feedings went to about 5-6 times a day. (And still a few times a night).
10-12 months: still feed on demand (and now he can actual lay ask for "babas" so it's the cutest thing). He seems to eat more for a "meal" about 3 times a day for about 20 minutes morning, noon, and night), but nurses for comfort throughout the day (might be a quick 5 minutes here and there). 
Also, teething will effect when they'll want to nurse, which is why I believe nursing on demand is very important. And I let my son nurse for comfort. I'm sure he'll self wean when he's ready (or when I'm ready, seeing as I'm 7 weeks pregnant and not sure how my supply will hold up), so until then, it's his main source of food and comfort:)

Every baby and every mum is different. You must be willing to feed your baby on demand throughout because that's how your supply matches your child's needs.
You should talk to a lactation consultant and join a breastfeeding info and support group before delivering.
