Should highschool students be allowed to practice in a sports bra?

Where I live it gets super hot and at my school the boys can practice with their shirts off but the girls cannot. This is unfortunate as a long distance runner because I overheat and the shirts can rub. Is this a normal expectation for girls to cover up as they exercise?

If the boys can practice shirtless, the girls should be allowed to wear sports bras. But in terms of high school students in general being allowed, it may have to do with a school liability and passersby complaining about it (happened with my school)

When I was In high school our track team was allowed if they did distance. Idk how I personally feel about it though. Bc although it covers more than a bra- it's still a bra. And track is school sponsored and they most likely have a dress code during the school day that says no midriffs or abdomens can show. No spaghetti straps or tank tops. So it's probably a violation of their dress code. With that being said- I think if girls have to wear shirts then the guys should have to as well.

It's like this at my school to. It sucks. And when we go to the park to practice cross country we get to watch our rival team running around in spandex and sports bras, and the guys get to be shirtless while our whole team has to keep their torsos fully covered.
