baby shower?

I'm an FTM and I'm debating a baby shower. I'm a very picky person and I also don't want to have other people buy gifts for the baby (which is the purpose of a baby shower). Has anyone who's expecting their first child not planned a baby shower?

I'm planning my own, and made a registry. I have ocd (literally), so I had to do it myself or there would be so many opportunities for me to have a panic about it. If you want to have a baby shower, but are picky about gifts, you can always add on the invites that you would like diapers of all sizes instead of gifts. If you don't want the gifts, because you don't need them or wouldn't want people spending money on you then you can take donations for your local women's shelter- ie toiletries, diapers, things to pamper, food, etc.

I planned 2 😂 my husband's family lives in one state and my family lives in another. Therefore, we have to have one in each state. We don't need a baby shower simply because we are more than capable of getting everything our baby girl needs but our families really want us to have one. It's a special time for your family too. Like this is the first baby on my side of the family in 13 years so everyone is going baby crazy and it's actually great to have everyone so involved with my pregnancy and want to get her things!

Not having one. SO said we can do it on our own and doesn't want family to be buying us stuff. My family is a little loco, and if they knew/bought us anything, they would feel they have "rights" to our child.

I'm not having one because I don't want people to buy me gifts. I just don't feel like it's anyone else's responsibility except mine and my partners. We were thinking of having just a celebration instead just to get everyone together

I didn't plan one because I got a lot of stuff from my moms friends who had girls, and they gave me a lot. Plus, not a lot of people show up for baby showers anymore, and I didn't want to plan one and have no one show up. Depressing honestly.
