Eclipse

Please help settle a debate between my SO and me. Some of you may be aware of the total eclipse coming in August across the US. It's on a Monday about 2 weeks after school starts back. We are just outside viewing area, but my parents who are 4 hours away are in a prime spot. Considering that it's been 99 years since last full eclipse, I think my 7th grader should witness it (if he wants to). My husband said he shouldn't miss school. He'd only miss one day. What are your thoughts?
