any advice or tips!!!

I have really irregular periods. Like every three months I'll get a period. And, it's so bad and heavy. Like I bleed through clothes. I finally got a doctors appointment but, it's not til the 17th. Did anyone have/ had really heavy irregular periods? What did you do? Also, I don't wanna take any birth control.
