is it safe to get a chipped tooth fixed while pregnant ?

I'm 33 weeks pregnant and I'm just worried if this'll effect the baby at all

Depends on the extent of the chip. I had to have a chip repaired last year in my front tooth and the dentist didn't even need to use anesthetic or numbing etc. It wasn't painful or anything and only took maybe 20 mins. I wasn't pregnant then though. So I'm sure it just depends.

Our dentists require OBGYN approval for any restorative treatment during pregnancy. If it's a small enough chip they may be able to just smooth the tooth. If it requires a filling they prefer your OB approve using anesthetic. Anything bigger (root canal, crown, extraction... not saying you would need those, just examples) they would likely want the procedure approved as well as anesthetic.

Your dentist should be able to tell you! Mine didn't want to do any dental work while I'm pregnant but mine is cosmetic (replacing old amalgam fillings with white ones). Your dentist might see the work as necessary, though. Good luck!

If you can tough ot through without any gas or needing to be numbed then it should be doable. If the chip requires a shot before hand then itll have to wait. It also depends on how the dentist feels about doing work while youre pregnant. Some wont do work after youre so far along. Definitely ask the dentist on their policy before it gets any worse.

A had a chipped tooth filled. They numbed it and I had a numbing shot. The worst part for me was that they laid me back.. bad idea. I almost passed out, and they had to sit me up and finish the rest with me sitting and them standing 😅

My dentist office was leery. Had to get a note from my doctor saying it was ok but they were still leery except one dentist who was okay with doing my procedure. They stated they usually won't do anything in the third trimester because it can cause some stress and make you go into labor. I was 31 weeks when I got my tooth pulled. They numbed the area and and did the anesthesia with the needle in my mouth (which was the hardest part) other than that it went really well. Took Tylenol  twice that day and didn't need it anymore because the pain was bearable after that first day and eventually went away. They did decline me for regular cleaning and told me to come back after the baby is born. My tooth hurt so bad I had to get it pulled. I didn't want to have a bad toothache and be in labor. I'd take the labor pains over the toothache anyway.

My dentist won't work on pregnant women, which sucks. I had a tooth to break a few weeks before I found out I was pregnant and at random times throughout my pregnancy it's caused so much pain 😭

Your dentist would know better,  if its on the surface without hitting a nerve or needing numbing i dont see why not.... but if u need to drill where u need numbing the dentist might opt out.  I had a filling fall out,  but i have no pain so my dentist is preferring to wait till after  baby
