Birth certificates and adoptions

I live in cali and the rights for same sex couples has made a positve change, but yet there are still loop holes and confusion with all the new changes. In cali they honor same sex couple signing the birth certificate now. However i am hearing u still need to adopt your child and or sign agreements b4 conception.

I was wondering how many of you had run ins with this and what did you have to do? What did you prefer to do?

I personally want to trust the birth certificate process and trust thats all i will need. However its so much unkown.
