Bible study Thursday's ( June 29, 2017)
Hello Ladies. I pray that you all are blessed on today. As always you all are invited to comment your thoughts, prayers, scriptures and or questions.
Today I would like to focus on why we ask for things of the Lord, but don't often receive them of the Lord. I know it is a hard pill to swallow when you are praying and fasting and praying and its been years and you still have not seen it manifest. Its like well what is really going on. You begin to say "well Lord you said ask and it will be given unto me. And I have been doing more than asking; I've been begging!!" And you still don't receive what you want from God. Your family, friends say well are you sincerely praying? Maybe you're not doing it right. And you're angry that they could even question that. You're mad because you have the faith the size of a mustard seed and yet it still has not seem to help. Yeah, I know this because I have been angry about so many things. Quoting scriptures to God telling him if you did it for such an such in the bible you can do it for me. Quoting Psalms 113:9 He maketh a barren woman to keep house, and to be a joyful mother of children. Praise he the Lord.
But it still had not happened. And we question God, why? Why oh God did you bless such and such but not me? And God is saying ask yourself why do you really want what you are asking for?
Book of James: Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not. Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.
James 4:2-3 KJV
Book of James:You desire but do not have, so you kill. You covet but you cannot get what you want, so you quarrel and fight. You do not have because you do not ask God. When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.
James 4:2-3 NIV
I had to sit down and ask myself why do I yearn for certain things. We all have to sit down and evaluate why are we so stuck on certain things. Our yearning for husband, house, baby, cars, money, clothes... Just anything can halt our entire walk with God!!! When God don't bless us with one thing that we feel we truly desire we stop still!!! But why? Is any of the things truly worth our relationship with God? We were put here with one purpose. That was to live as God commanded us, and to spread his words. All other thing are given to us according to his will and according his timing. But even if he does not have in his will for us to obtain the things we yearn for, are we willing to continue on in faith?
Book of Mathew:But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.
Matthew 6:33-34 KJV
Book of Mathew: But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
Matthew 6:33-34 NIV
Ladies I know our hearts want for things. It is natural. We want husband, children, house, land cars, whatever it is each of you individually may want. I may not have named it but you know what it is. It may be healing from a sickness. Whatever it is. You have to figure out what your motive is for wanting it. And you have to decide if God does not intend to give me this, I will still serve him with all my soul. Because God sometimes says no because he has other plans for us. We have to to realize that when we said yes to God. When we made that pledge to serve him. That yes meant more than we could have comprehended at that time. It meant yes to his will, which we don't know until he reveals it to us because we only see in parts. Not saying that he won't give you those things that you ask him. You may just need to change your heart before you can receive it. But if his answer is a solid no, can you, are you willing to still call him Lord of your life? Amen
I pray that your answer is still yes that you will serve him no matter what. I love you ladies and please comment below. ☺🙏
