When to make my first appointment?

I called my doctor to schedule my first prenatal visit and I noticed that the date they asked me to come in was only at 6w 2d. Do you think that is too early? Should I call to reschedule?

They were able to confirm via ultrasound and see a heartbeat to give me a due date at 6w5d.

They gave me mine at 5 weeks and 3 days .  And then went back at 7 weeks .

It could just be an intake appointment to get a medical history. My OB's office has these with each pregnancy, then the next appointment is the first time they have the OB there

It was too early for me, couldn't see or hear the baby. You'll get a better picture at 8 weeks

I've had this app for 2 years, and you're the first person I've seen that's wondered why your first prenatal visit was too early instead of "too late," lol. So first, good for you! I would say yes, call and try to push it back at least 2 weeks. When they're scheduling the initial appointment, they usually do it around 8 weeks because any earlier is very difficult to detect anything (think "my baby is the size of a poppyseed"). For both my boys, my eight week visit ended up showing that I was measuring at six weeks. This is because, before they have measurements, they base it on the assumption that you have a 28-day cycle. I do not. The earlier you go, the harder it is to detect anything. And not being able to see your peanut can cause unnecessary stress, which is best avoided in early pregnancy.
