For those of you that share accounts w/ you s/o, do you think they should run purchases by you?

My husband and I share an account. I'm the one that pays the bills and balances give check book. It really frustrates me when he makes purchases and doesn't let me know. I'm not saying he has to ask necessarily but I'd like a heads up! He has a horrible past when it comes to money and I don't want him to get to comfy spending when and how he wants. Thoughts?

I have an app on my phone where I manage our monthly budgets. My husband needn't ask me for small purchases but he brings all receipts home so I can balance our account. If it's a larger purchase, we discuss it with each other always. It's really good to communicate about money. When it becomes an easy routine, it's les stressful to manage.

We set a dollar amount and anything above that we discuss with each other. Otherwise, I pay all the bills and buy the groceries etc.

You need to make a budget to prep lab where your money is going each month. You should each have a certain amount of "fun money" as long as you spent within the fun money limit then you don't have to inform the other person. It's already predetermined. This gives you each some freedom and limits stress.

Anything over $200 we check with eachother. It's a courtesy not really asking. I most likely wouldn't say no and neither would he. And the higher the price tag the more a conversation happens before we buy. Like when he wanted to buy Cubs season tickets we discussed it. It was a lot of money but we decided we could afford it pretty easily.

We also do anything over $200 we tell each other. We have our own credit cards for things like birthday and annkcersary gifts😊 I love doing the budget and I think we might loose the house if the hubby did it😂

We have seperate accounts but they are linked so if need be I can transfer money to him and the other way around, I married into debt he is doing better now, but will still transfer money out of my account wo telling me

We share a bank account and always run larger than $50 purchases by each other. He has a set budget for stuff like magic the gathering cards that he keeps track of and I watch our account through my budget app, mint. Only time we might go over the $50 limit is for Christmas... We usually tell each other how much we want to spend on each other but not what we are getting each other. 😊

Me and my partner usually mention when we want to buy something that costs more than £20 or something. Just so we can be on the same page about how much money we've spent during the month 😊

Large purchases, set an amount of you have to, unless you have a tight budget, you cam still set an amount, just smaller

We have a joint account and I have a personal account. Bills, savings and household $ go in the joint account. Then I have my own personal account that I can do as I please. We check with each other before large though. We also have yet another account that's strictly for the baby. That's for doctors app, meds, whatever and we NEVER dip into that except for all things baby
