How much cramping is normal?

I'm 5 weeks and sometimes get cramps like a sharp pain in my lower stomach, yesterday it was on the right side. I haven't gotten any today and only happen every once in a while, no spotting or bleeding though.

As long as the pain is not severe or the cramps aren't continuous it's normal. Also keep an eye out for accompanying bleeding.

At the same time it is never silly to see your GP or even go to the ER if you are really worried during pregnancy.

I had menstrual like cramps throughout my entire pregnancy. I'm now 9months. My OBGYN told me it was normal stretching and as long as there was no blood and they weren't severe I was fine...and your sharp pains may be round ligament pains...the beginning and end are/were the worst.....they don't lie when they say 2nd trimester is a break
