When did you say I love you? Were you guys together long? How did you know your partner was the one that you love them?

I think we'd been dating a month or so. We were visiting his parents for Christmas (first time I met them) and his mum made a comment like 'he must love you a lot cause he never did dishes for me' - I asked him to rinse off the dishes & stack the dishwasher after dinner. When I brought it up later that night, cause it was funny how we both just kinda stared when she said it, he said 'well i was planning the right time to tell you myself but I guess my mum stole my thunder, I love you'. I giggled & said it back.

1 month in we knew we loved each other, we had discussed things like marriage & kids and were planning to move in together when my lease ended in February & he was released from living on the Army base. We'd also booked a trip overseas to visit my family by that stage too. Now we've been engaged coming up 2 years & are expecting our first baby together in sept. As clichéd as it sounds, I love him more & more each day.

There's no such thing as "the one". Any one can make a relationship work if everyone involved tries.

That being said, I don't throw the "L" word around. I've had boyfriends, I'd been improperly proposed to twice before I hit the age of 18, and again after, and I've had guys tell me they love me and want to be with me forever. But I never told any of those guys that I loved them. I felt they didn't deserve such a special phrase from me. Hell, I've never even said it to my parents because I associate the phrase in a deep, romantic fashion and it just seems weird for me to tell my parents that.

When I was 23, I'd just gotten out of an abusive relationship and had hooked up with my SO. His presence in my life helped me to not be afraid of men (due to that previous relationship). But my SO was so sad. I could tell before I even spoke to him that he'd had an extremely difficult life and, despite being surrounded by friends, he was very lonely. I told him I loved him about 5 months after we started dating, and two years later, I don't regret it :) I'm the happiness in his life and because of him, I have minimal PTS - if anyone ever deserved to hear the "L" word from me, it's him.

I didn't want to rush him because I knew he was kind of shy buy he told me "I <3 you" the day he left for his vacation and my friend and I decided that was his way of telling me he really loved me and wanted to wait until he was ready to ask me out and wanted to get through his vacation at least first and then three days after he got back from his vacation he asked me out and said "I love you"

Within 6 months is when I told my SO, I loved him. I knew he didn't love me back but I wanted to let him know I admired him and adored him to bits. It took him a year to say I love you lol.

But I love you didn't really hit home for me until a few months ago after 2 years of dating. I knew I loved him but once the feeling really sinks in, the world just becomes brighter. Maybe there a different stages of loving someone? My love just keep getting bigger and bigger haha. 😁😁😄
