At war with...war??

Question

My boyfriend and I are both 19, we have been dating for 6 years and in the last year he has decided to join the army. The problem is I HATE the military, I have seen it rip families apart and I cannot bare the fact that he could die , and I hate that all these wars are mostly the government's personal war on oil that our loved ones are dying for. I love my boyfriend but I can't stand this idea. I don't want to leave him because of it but I also don't know if I can live that life. Anyone have any advice or been in the same situation??

if you want to be with him, you just have to learn to cope with it. don't think negatively about it because it's obviously something he wants to do.

My husband was a Marine for 4 years. Yeah it can be hard but it's what he wants to do so you should support him. Being in the military isn't only about fighting. They save lives. Our lives. Depends on the job his does in the military as well. My husband never deployed over seas and if he did then he still wouldn't have gone to a dangerous location. All depends on what he does. Do some research on it. It's not as bad as it seems.

I've been with my boyfriend for 5 years and the whole time I've been with him, up until this year he's been in the army so it's slightly different because it's all I know. I'm honestly the proudest girlfriend, he put his life on the line for me and for the rest of our country. He has been through hell but he's also had amazing times and opportunities because of it. In my opinion it makes me appreciate our time together so much more, I would miss him when he was away but I would love the butterflies I got every time he came home. In my opinion it was the best thing for him at that time and has formed him into the man that he is today. Hes now left because he felt like he missed out on things at home, couldnt commit to lots of things because he never knew when he could be sent away or would be called into work and he wants to settle down. Let him try it, stand by him and see how it goes, it will be incredibly hard but it is worth it x
