When should I go on leave!?

I live in California & my "EDD" is september 3 but my doctors appt last week said she's measuring at 31 weeks & 4 days which has brought me almost an entire week ahead. I believe I'm allowed up to 4 weeks before due date and 12 afterwards. Any advice mommies?

Current baby position is her head is down so  as long as she stays put I can have a natural delivery. I also developed gestational diabetes. So aside from the regular OB, I see an endocrinologist and a radiologist so you can imagine how booked I am on top of my full time job 😫

Just because you're measuring a week ahead and have GD doesn't mean you'll deliver early. Unless all of the baby's earlier ultrasounds were also a week ahead, the gestational age and due date remain the same. My dr told me he doesn't use the term "measuring ahead" because it's so misleading. The organ development etc isn't ahead, the baby is just a little larger than normal right now but can also slow down. Even with GD they will wait until 39 weeks to induce you unless your health is at risk (I had GD 2 of my 3 pregnancies). So I'd calculate it based on when you'll be 39 weeks.

It doesn't make a difference if the baby is measuring ahead. My son was measuring 2 weeks ahead most of my pregnancy (from when they start doing fundal) and his due date never changed.

I'm in CA too... I'm due 8/7, and my official 'disability leave' starts next week when I'm 36w2d. Hopefully baby boy arrives on time and not too early (I need to nest a bit more!). 
I will then take the 6 additional weeks of disability, then 6 weeks CA PFL. Then 3 more months through my work (supplemented with PTO and savings).
