Promise Rings?

I love Jewelry but the idea of a promise ring is meh... I'd rather just have an engagement ring. Promise rings seem to me more like "ugh my lady wants to get married but I don't want to yet"

I think it's a cop-out and lazy. Either commit or use that money to go on a trip, not on some half-ass commitment/promise ring. 
Don't want to commit to an engagement ring? Take a weekend trip and make memories and show love, not buy love. Means way more.
Want to commit but can afford it? See about getting a false diamond/jewel as a place holder and make payments for a real one. Or wait.

If you're young and in your teens then sure whatever. But once you're an adult I think it's just silly. You're promising to one day promise to get married. What's the point? If you were actually serious about committing you'd get an engagement ring and get married. A promise ring to me indicates that you're not able to really commit to someone. That's ok because it does take time to be ready for marriage. But I don't need a physical symbol of a lack of real commitment. I'm 24- I know my boyfriend is committed to me, I know that he's not quite ready for marriage and I know that he loves me and does want to marry me. When he gets me a ring I want him to get down on one knee and propose with a diamond ring that actually symbolizes a real promise of commitment, not a promise of a future promise.

I think promise rings are good if you're around the age of 16 and 17 but when you're kinda older and with someone, I think they're juvenile. Like, if I'm in my 20s and I have a serious relationship that I've been in for a long time, I'd be waiting for an engagement ring.
