So I've recently been curious about fingering myself and when I go down about an inch into my vagina, it hurts. Why does this happen?? How can I make it not hurt??

It's hard to say without any additional information, but my guess is that you're probably not turned on enough. You need to make sure that you're really well lubricated before you try to insert anything into your vagina. Try giving yourself a bit more foreplay before you go straight to fingering. Read a sexy story (booksiesilk.com has a pretty good variety), watch some porn (if you're comfortable with that), or just spend some time touching other areas of your body (I personally get really turned on by touching my breasts and nipples, so that's my go-to suggestion, but just running your hands up and down your body or circling your fingers around your vagina without entering can help). You might also want to consider using some sort of lubricant. I personally prefer KY water-based lubricant (or the generic version because I'm cheap), but petroleum jelly (Vaseline) can also be a good lubricant for solo play, and it's a bit cheaper and less awkward to buy since it has many other uses. If you're a virgin, the pain could also be due to your hymen still being intact. I've personally never experienced any pain from that, so I don't have specific advice for dealing with it, but I've heard of it being a problem for others. Good luck!
