Membrane strip???

Question

Ill be 38 weeks Friday and my doctor told me she was going to give my cervix a 'stretch' will that put me in labor soon after?? FTM pls help.

I had it down both pregnancies, it didn't hurt me much. But my first I went in labor about a week after. And the second about 2-3 weeks.

It can help to speed things up but won't necessarily put you in labour. I had one on the Tuesday but didn't have my son until the Saturday (40+2). I didn't go into labour until the sat either.

Oh man if that's what I think it is it definitely does not feel good! I had it done on a Tuesday (which by the way my doctor didn't tell me what it was, just to brace myself) bc my doctor would be working on the delivery floor Thursday. I went into labour Friday and had my daughter just after midnight. I was 39 weeks when he did it. I feel like it shouldn't be done until you're close to your due date or passed. I'd actually rather just wait it out then have it done. Just my opinion though.
