Feminist engagement! I'm so happy😄😂😍
I just wanted to share our engagement story, because I'm curious what you guys think and because I'm so crazy in love an happy!
When my fiancé and I first started to talk about possible getting married the issue of engagement came up. Since we both are deeply feminist we found the traditional idea of man surprising the woman with the ring and her being "promised" to him while he carries no symbol of the engagement a bit outdated. So we decided to order the rings together, we had them custom made by jewelry artist on Etsy, I had an exactly ring I wanted and he got a band. We also ordered matching wedding bands we will add after we get married.
We decided to get engaged in his home town, he took me to a place his mom's family comes from and where he spent a lot of his childhood and youth, coming to fiestas as a kiddo and where so much ethnic history is hidden. We sat in an old gazebo on a beautiful square in front of the old Spanish mission church and we exchanged our rings! There was nobody around, blistering heat (July in El Paso, TX 😅), just us and the ghosts of all the ancestors keeping their fingers crossed for us! It was truly amazing.
I cried and felt total magic of this place, the way we did it and this endless love for this amazing guy.
Thanks for reading and lots of love for you guys. <3
