Unsure of where to post this.

My partner of 4 1/2 years and I are looking at the possibility of adopting his step nephew in the future. I have been doing research of what we would need to do in case it were to come up. In the state of NV, law states that either married or single people can adopt, but does single mean just him? I haven't been able to find additional information beyond that. NV does not follow Common Law. I'm just trying to get info to be better prepared if the situation were to officially arise.
